Mesmerizing Göteborg

In 2023, I got my very first Schengen visa, and guess what? My best friend, Heena, was living in Sweden! So, she calls me up and says, “Why not visit me for the weekend? It’s going to be an adventure!” And me? Oh, I’m the kind of person who hears “adventure” and immediately thinks, “Don’t need to tell me twice—my passport is READY to be stamped!” 😂

We made this spontaneous plan: I’d fly in for the weekend to Gothenburg, and it was all set. Early morning Ryanair flight—I was barely awake but buzzing with excitement. Reached Gothenburg around noon, and Heena was there waiting for me at the airport like, “Welcome to Sweden, girl!”

That evening, we hit up Haga Street. If you haven’t been, imagine a fairy tale village, cobblestone streets, and adorable little shops where you can buy literally all the cinnamon buns. I swear, those cinnamon buns should come with a warning: “May cause a serious addiction!” 🍩😂

The next day, we made our way to the Vrångö and Brännö islands—and let me tell you, these islands were pure serenity (after I got over my initial excitement about ferry rides). Vrångö, with its beautiful beaches and nature trails, felt like a slice of peace. Brännö had this rustic, “no Wi-Fi, just nature” vibe, which was a little scary at first, but in a good way. You know, the kind of scary where you’re like, “Okay, I can totally live without a signal for a few hours… as long as there’s fika!” ☕🌿

But let me be real—there’s always that moment when you stop to take a photo, and you’re like, “This is for my blog, okay? Not for Instagram likes. Not for the followers. But for… real-time content,” as I told myself over and over, pretending to be a professional travel blogger. 📸😂

After a weekend like that, I was ready to throw in a few “travel quotes” for my blog, like: “Why rush when you can get lost in Sweden and still make it to your flight?”

So, when a friend calls and asks if you want to go to Gothenburg for the weekend—NEVER. MISS. THE. CHANCE. 😎 You never know when the next passport stamp will show up. And also, cinnamon buns and ferry rides are life.
