Our Unforgettable Day at Mount Fuji and the Five Lakes: Fun, Mishaps, and Laughter

During our stay in Japan, we embarked on an unforgettable one-day adventure to Mount Fuji and the stunning Five Lakes (Fujigoko). From the moment we hopped on the train at Shinjuku Station to the beautiful views of Mount Fuji towering over the lakes, it was a day full of fun moments, laughter, and even a few minor mishaps that made our trip all the more memorable.

We took the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku Station to Otsuki Station, then switched to the Fujikyu Railway to Kawaguchiko Station. The cost for the train journey was about ¥2,150, and the ride took us around 2 hours. As the train approached Kawaguchiko, we could feel the excitement build up, especially when Mount Fuji finally came into view—majestic, serene, and absolutely stunning.

Once we arrived, we headed straight to Lake Kawaguchi where the view of Mount Fuji reflected in the water was simply magical. It was the perfect spot for a few photos, but not before a little funny incident. In the midst of snapping pictures, Nayan’s sandal slipped—a moment that turned into instant comedy as we both burst into laughter. Nothing like a little mishap to kick off a day of travel!

The next stop was the Shiba Sakura Festival, and let me tell you, it was like stepping into a pastel dream. The sea of pink moss phlox flowers was absolutely breathtaking, and as we queued with other tourists, we couldn’t help but giggle at how Japanese culture had such a charming, cute vibe. There we were, surrounded by pink flowers and eager visitors, each waiting for the perfect shot with Mount Fuji looming behind us. We asked some friendly locals to take our pictures, and in return, they asked for a shot with us too—something that added a personal touch to our journey. The festival’s beauty, combined with the genuine kindness of the people, made this stop unforgettable.

As we explored the lakes, we took time to visit Lake Yamanakako and Lake Saiko, each offering their own serene beauty. We rented bikes to ride around Lake Yamanakako, and with the wind in our faces, it felt like pure freedom. Of course, we stopped often for pictures, laughing and sharing moments together, capturing the essence of the day.

On our way back to Kawaguchiko Station to head back to Tokyo, we reflected on how fun and spontaneous the day had been. The travel was easy, the people were kind, and the mishaps along the way only added to the charm of our experience. The train ride back, which costs another ¥2,150 and takes around 2 hours, gave us one last chance to gaze at Mount Fuji from the train window, this time reflecting on all the fun memories we had made.

This trip to Mount Fuji and the Five Lakes was a perfect blend of nature, culture, and laughter—an adventure we’ll never forget!
