With work getting hectic and city life feeling too loud lately, we really needed a break. Not just any break — something meaningful. Nayra has been dreaming of running away into nature, somewhere peaceful and green, where we could breathe fresh air, go on long walks, and just be present. So this Easter long weekend, we packed our bags and headed north — into the hills, lakes, and historic towns.
This trip wasn’t about ticking off places. It was about escaping the noise, finding quiet moments, and making memories together.
🏙️ Day 0: Hello Manchester – Tea & Football Vibes
We kicked off our trip by catching the train from London to Manchester and stayed near Piccadilly — a super convenient spot for getting around and joining our day tours.
But before all the nature escapes, we had a little city fun.
First stop? Heytea 🍓🍑
We had been wanting to try it for ages — and let me tell you, it was worth the hype. The fruit teas were so refreshing after the train ride, and the creamy cheese tops were addictive. It was a cute little treat before we disappeared into the countryside.
Later that evening, it was all about football for Nayan.
He scored tickets to see Manchester United at Old Trafford for a Europa League match, and the energy in the stadium was unreal. The chants, the sea of red jerseys, and that buzzing crowd — you could feel the passion in the air. Even for someone who’s not super into football, it was the kind of vibe that gives you goosebumps.

🌄 Day 1: Lake District – Calm Waters, Village Charm & a Peak Side Wall Moment
The Lake District welcomed us like a warm hug. We joined a full-day tour via GetYourGuide, and every stop made us fall more in love with the area.
Sweetest parts:
- The peaceful boat ride on Lake Windermere, surrounded by blue water and mountain silhouettes.
- The cozy village of Grasmere, where we got our hands on the famous gingerbread from Sarah Nelson’s — warm, spicy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. A must-try. We brought some home, but it barely survived the train ride back. 😄
- In Bowness-on-Windermere, we grabbed coffee, watched boats glide by, and just let time slow down.
And then there was that stone wall along the peak — we climbed up, leaned back, and stared out at the hills. Quiet, a little wind in our hair, and that feeling like the world had paused just for us.

⛰️ Day 2: Peak District – Hills, Bakes & Comedy Breaks
Our second day took us into the rolling greens of the Peak District, again with GetYourGuide. Everything felt fresh, breezy, and old-timey — stone villages, fluffy sheep, and winding lanes.
Unforgettable highlights:
- We stopped in the famous town of Bakewell, and yes — we had the original Bakewell pudding. It was warm, gooey, and honestly one of the best sweet surprises of the trip. Not to be confused with Bakewell tart — this one’s the real deal.
- Mid-hike, we found this random stone structure shaped like a coffin. Obviously, we had to pose for a photo — and it turned into a full-on comedy shoot. The poses? Questionable. The laughter? Non-stop. Definitely one for the memory books.
- Later, after walking a bit more than we expected, we lay down on the soft grassy hill… and just accidentally fell asleep under the sun for a few minutes. No alarms, no phones. Just sky above and silence all around.
That mix of simple food, spontaneous laughs, and slow nature is what made this day so special. Everything felt natural and easy — like we weren’t just visiting, but living the day.om being surrounded by nature.

🏰 Day 3: York – A Tiny Fairytale Town
For our last day, we took a train to York, and it was like stepping into another time.
- We wandered through The Shambles, with its narrow, cobbled streets and leaning buildings. It felt magical.
- The York Minster was grand and peaceful — even just walking around it made us pause.
- We walked the city walls, sat by the river, had ice cream in the sun, and didn’t rush a thing.
It was the kind of day that reminds you how simple things — old streets, warm sunlight, and unplanned stops — can be the best part of a trip.

💛 Why This Trip Mattered
We didn’t go far, and we didn’t plan every minute. But this little escape helped us slow down and reconnect with what matters. We laughed more, talked about life, and saw each other — really saw each other — without all the distractions.
It reminded us how healing nature can be. How a change of view can bring a change of mind. How important it is to step away sometimes, even just for a weekend.
Whether you’re planning your own nature getaway, or just need a reminder to breathe, this trip gave us exactly what we were looking for: peace, connection, and moments we’ll hold on to.
